ETH uses Silva as its main CMS. There are over 350 public Silva sites running at the university, and a hundred some more in development. ETH contributes extensively to development of the application and has funded related software, such as the first generation of the Kupu WYSIWYG editor, Five, and the initial development of the Railroad Repository.

WU’s close cooperation with the business world affords it an especially practical relevance, which is one of the reasons why the WU is consistently ranked among the top institutions out of 120 in Austria, Germany and Switzerland for international business education. The WU has over 175 partner universities throughout the world and acknowledged expertise in a number of fields, including that of East-West business. Its wide range of courses as well as the international orientation of its teaching and research have made the WU a renowned center of knowledge in many key fields of business and economics. Over 20,000 students are enrolled.

The Silva CMS runs behind the WU site. The university regularly contributes to Silva, developed the Silva Layout product, Silva Poll, and has funded Kupu development.

UCL has a rich history spanning 175 years. Its community of 24,500 staff and students is engaged in productive partnerships around the world. More than a third of the student community is engaged in graduate studies, with almost half of these graduate students pursuing research degrees. UCL has the highest number of professors of any university in the UK, with more than 600 established and personal chairs, as well as the highest number of female professors.

UCL uses Silva as its main CMS, and has contributed to its development with core features, code sources, and the SilvaNewsNetwork product.

The University of Coimbra is an indisputable reference in higher education and research in Portugal, due to the quality of the courses taught at its eight Faculties and to the advances achieved in pure and applied research in various areas of knowledge, in Portugal and in the world. The UC is the top university in Portugal and its international prestige may be demonstrated by the position it holds in the international rankings of universities and research centers.

Silva powers the main site. The university has contributed to Silva 2.0 development, Radius-based authentication for Silva, and numerous ongoing developments.

The Delft University of Technology is the largest technical university in the Netherlands, with over 13,000 students and 2,100 scientists (including 200 professors). The university comprises eight faculties and multiple research institutes.

The TU Delft Library is developing a Repository Infrastructure system from which to serve the needs of various academic repository and related systems. This includes the basic institutional repository, third-party hosted repositories, expert searching, a digital asset management system, scientific data sets, long term preservation and other additional services to manage the special collections of the library and the wider TU Delft community in general.

The TU Delft Library was one of the initial sponsors of the MOAI server platform and contributes to its ongoing development.

Bethel University

Bethel University provides exceptional Christian higher education by integrating a broad choice of strong academic programs with a vital spiritual life and purpose. Bethel University uses Silva as its main CMS, which runs the majority of its intranet and a growing number of public websites. The university actively develops and extends Silva, has contributed to the development of SilvaNewsNetwork, and has released a number of Silva extensions, including: SilvaStylesheets, SilvaCustomAutoTOC, and SilvaDocumentPatches.

Trinity College

Founded in 1872 as the first college of the University of Melbourne, Trinity College is a unique tertiary institution that provides a diverse range of high quality academic and extra-curricular programs. Their lecturers play important roles in the economy and are engaged in practice avocationally. This tried and tested system guarantees an up to date and praxis oriented education.

Oxfam International

Oxfam International is an international confederation, comprised of 12 independent non-government organizations dedicated to fighting poverty and related injustice around the world. Its mission is a just world without poverty and its goal is to enable people to exercise their rights and manage their own lives.

Oxfam has invested heavily in the development of the Kupu editor both by external assignments and more recently with in-house development. Oxfam’s investment has helped turn the editor into a truly successful open source product, used by multiple systems including Apache Lenya, Magnolia, MMBase, MyFaces, Plone, Popoon, Silva, Twiki, and the Union CMS.

Ver.di is a German labor union that shapes the working environment and offers services to employees in more than a thousand professions.

They have created the Union CMS and integrated Kupu into it, contributing numerous features to the editor, such as multi-instance editing.

The Institute for Dutch History (ING) is a scientific institute tasked with stimulating research into Dutch history. The ING creates various publications that make the past accessible for researchers. The publications are available in both digital and book form (in the Rijks Geschiedkundige Publicatiën). The digitial versions are available via the website. The ING has created a custom built application for cross referencing historical documents with information in databases.

ING uses a customized Silva based application that enables searching in historical material (stored in XML documents) that is cross-referenced with extensive metadata.

Bijvoet Center for Biomolecular Research

Bijvoet Center

The Bijvoet Center aims to further insight into the relation, at the molecular level, between the structure and the function/activity of biomolecules that are involved in recognition, interaction, and regulatory processes. To achieve this goal, the Bijvoet Center will maintain an advanced infrastructure and will provide high-quality research training programs for young scientists.

The Bijvoet Center uses Silva as its CMS, and is currently extending it with workgroup collaboration facilities.

The site of the Berlin National Public Library (ZLB) runs in Silva, and is integrated with mulitiple external databases. The site developers have contributed many features, among them Silva’s workflow messaging facilities.

Waldwissen Net

The information- and communication platform is a joint service from four research institutes: is a knowledge- and communication-platform for forestry and related fields. The internet-platform is based on specialised knowledge and know-how elaborated in different countries. The information offering of is comprehensive, reviewed by experts and user-oriented, and will contribute to enhance the sustainable management, multifunctionality and conservation of biodiversity of forests in Central Europe.

The application runs in Silva and is being developed by WSL.

Computerbank Australia

Computer Bank

The Computerbank Project is an Australian initiative to supply free GNU/Linux systems to low income individuals, community groups and disadvantaged schools. This Project has resulted in the formation of volunteer organisations in several Australian states. Computerbank branches across Australia are now providing help to low income individuals, families and under-resourced community groups and schools, especially with obtaining computer hardware and training in how to use it.

Computerbank does all its documentation in Silva and Kupu. Their people do valuable beta testing of new features.
