Publication date: 7.January.2009, 10:57
7 january 2009 – Infrae has just released Silva News Network 2.7. While primarily a compatibility release, SNN 2.7 does include a new feature: the RSS Aggregator now merges/sorts the feeds based on each feed item’s publication date.
Most important bugfixes
- The Agenda Viewer displays the same number of characters for each item’s intro as News Viewers do (i.e. 128)
For a full list of changes, see HISTORY.txt in the package.
What is it?
Silva News Network provides a News & Events application for Silva that runs out-of-the-box. It offers the capability to deploy multiple News Sources within an organization, say, in different departments, where some or all sources can be aggregated into a central news page. The different departments can have their own news page too. By adjusting SNN Filters, editors can choose what news sources, target audiences, and subjects their aggregator collects, and have granular control of display down to an article level.
News Viewer components can be used ‘as is’ for a news page, or be included inline into a document. Silva templates can display news feeds in a related column. SNN has RSS/Atom extensions; a News Viewer can publish its contents in RSS or Atom format. There is also an RSS Aggregator that can be used to pick up and display news from external RSS and Atom feeds.
